Details
A director of a company may, with the other directors' approval, appoint an individual to act as an alternate to exercise some or all of the director's powers for a specified period.
Depending on the terms of appointment, an alternate may be granted the same powers and carry out the same duties as the appointing director.

Ceasing an alternate director
If an expiry date was provided at the time of appointment, you don't need to notify when the alternate director ceases. (see below for more information)
If the appointment was open ended, you need to notify the date of cessation by preparing and lodging the form 484. See Resigning an Officer.
See the ASIC website for more information.
Appoint an Alternate Director with an expiry date
The Form 484 to appoint an alternate director does include an area to enter a proposed expiry date for the alternate.
However for electronic purposes, users are not able to have this date prefilled by CAS 360.
A limitation of the ASIC EDGE system is that a form is not able to have an appointment and a resignation of a person.
If you wish to lodge an appointment of an alternate including an expiry date, this will need to lodge this manually.
