Issue
When preparing ASIC forms, such as Form 484, if the contact's birthplace or residential address is Taiwan, it will be listed as "Taiwan, Province of China" within the form.
Why does this happen?
ASIC follows the ISO-3166 country code standard, and therefore only accepts "Taiwan, Province of China" upon lodgment. However, the Australian Government does not adhere to ISO-3166, which results in a discrepancy in the recorded country name. As a result, users will need to submit a request for correction to match the records.
Resolution
To correct the records on the ASIC database, please submit a Form 492 Request for correction.
Please follow the steps below to learn how to correct the details.
- Navigate to the Documents Screen.
- Locate the previously lodged form with the incorrect data.
- On the same line as the lodged form, under the Action column, select Options, then select Prepare 492/902.
- Enter the original DOCIMAGE Number for the previously lodged form. Under the Details of Correction, enter the details of the change.
- Prepare and lodge the document.
ASIC will then update their database with the desired country format.
