Query
Historical share data for a company has been removed or is not yet restored in CAS 360.
Can new shares still be issued and lodged urgently?
Answer
Yes, you can proceed with issuing and lodging new shares, provided the share structure in CAS 360 matches ASIC records before the new allotment is made.
Key Requirement
Before issuing new shares, ensure:
- The total shares on issue in CAS 360 = total shares on ASIC
- The share classes and amounts are aligned
If this alignment is correct, lodging the new share issue should not cause issues.
An Form RA71 - Request Electronic Data Download can be used to compare the CAS 360 database to the ASIC database.
If Historical Data Has Not Been Restored
If you are unable to restore historical transactions in time, you can:
| From the Main Toolbar, go to Company. | |
| Select the Company from the list. | |
| Select Shareholders |
- Add a balance transaction
- Assign it to a dummy shareholder (if required)
- Ensure the total shares reflect the correct position as per ASIC
This allows you to establish the correct starting point before issuing new shares.
Important Notes
- This is a temporary workaround until historical data is restored
- Once restored, you may need to:
- Remove the balancing entry
- Reconcile historical transactions
