ASIC's Specification
Former name must not equal current name
Cause
When lodging with ASIC, the error code V153 means that the “former name” field for a contact is identical to the “current name” field.
This typically applies when submitting a form, such as Form 484 Change to a company’s details.
Suggestion
Correct any issues with a contact's name history to ensure no duplicate names.
To insert the former name, from the main toolbar, navigate to CONTACTS.
Search and edit the Contact.
From the Name tile, select options and history.
In the history list:
If the “Former name” entry is identical to the current name, delete that historical entry.
Ensure that only genuinely different former names are recorded (i.e., previous names differing from the current).
Additional tips
Double-check that the “Former name” is actually a previous name (not simply a duplicate).
If no former name exists, leave the “Former name” field blank unless it correctly applies.
After fixing it in CAS 360, regenerate the form or document for lodgement to ensure the updated data takes effect.
