In CAS 360, you can add a foreign (international) address to a contact by selecting the appropriate country and entering the address details in the required format.
Steps to add a foreign address
| From the Main Toolbar, go to Contacts. |
- Click Add Contact or edit an existing contact.
- In the Address section:
- When in the Address field, begin typing the Address. CAS 360 will search the global address database for the Address. If the Address has not been previously added to the Global addresses screen, click + Add New to add a new address.
- Enter the Country, Address Line, City/Suburb, State/Province, and Postcode/Zip Code fields as applicable for that country.
ASIC Electronic Lodgement Requirements
When lodging forms electronically with ASIC (ELS), there are specific requirements for how foreign addresses must be formatted:
- For most foreign countries, the postcode must be entered within the Address Line 1 or 2 field.
This ensures compatibility with ASIC’s electronic lodgement system (ELS). Exceptions:
For the following countries, the postcode should be entered in the designated postcode field, and should NOT be repeated in the Address Line:- United Kingdom (UK)
- Singapore (SG)
- New Zealand (NZ)
CAS 360 has jurisdiction-specific fields for these countries that correctly map to the ASIC ELS format.
- Hong Kong (HK): No postcode is required, as postcodes are not used in Hong Kong.
Example – France (foreign country requiring postcode in Address Line)
Example – New Zealand (postcode entered in the correct field)
Postal Code Validation
When adding a foreign address in CAS 360, you may receive a validation message relating to the postal code format.
UK, Singapore, and Hong Kong postal codes must be entered in the correct format and in the designated Postcode field. Ensure the postcode is not included in any other address fields (such as Address Line 1 or Address Line 2).
If you receive an error message:
- Confirm the postcode is entered in the Postcode field only
- Ensure there are no extra spaces or characters in the postcode
- Verify the country is set to the correct country
If the issue persists after confirming the above, re-enter the address details to ensure the formatting is consistent with CAS 360 validation requirements.
