Managed Investment Funds
I am seeking advice on how to close/wind down a managed investment fund. My initial investigation shows that a form 5138 is required to prepared and lodged to notify ASIC of the closure. Alternatively, ASIC shows the process to deregister a registered scheme. The registered managed investment scheme has an ARSN number. Does this mean the process of lodging an ASIC form is required rather than the process to wind up/close a "Trust".
Any advice is helpful for this topic.
Thank you

Hi Erin,
Thank you for your patience with this query. You are correct in saying that managed investment schemes do require Form 5138 to be lodged when closing / winding down said scheme.
Naturally, we do recommend checking directly with ASIC or a professional advisor so they can assess your specific situation.
However, to answer your final question, to my understanding the process required to close this managed investment scheme would indeed be different to processing the wind up / closing of a trust.
